Online Chat Customer Service
I don't know if I am late in realizing this amazing "new" service, but yesterday when I was trying to figure out what size to order my daughter's school uniform from the Land's End website, I had the option of AIMing (instant messaging) a customer service representative right in the middle of my problem. It was awesome. I didn't have to seek out an 800 number and wait an hour for someone to help me, I just click on a button and presto a rep was talking to me instantaneously. I told the rep my daughter's measurements and she, with great authority and precision, instructed me on what size to get her. It was great...so easy.
This morning, I booked my four-year-old son a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese, a local game and play zone. After I booked it online, I realized I may have ordered too much and again...I was met with an online customer service rep who AIM'd me and I just told her what to take off and she did. Then she emailed me a new confirmation. It was so slick. So easy.
I know I am turning 40 next year, but technology is making me feel ancient. What a great invention, AIM customer service! Every website should have one.
