
If your kids like big ships and to see sailors in action, than head down to the Inner Harbor this weekend.
Baltimore was selected this year to host the city’s first ever Navy Week which will include a series of events conducted by the United States Navy, Aug. 28 to Sept. 6 in downtown Baltimore and the surrounding communities.
Meet sailors, learn about the missions they have underway around the world and see the Navy in action. There will be free concerts, equipment demonstrations, speakers and community service projects. Some of the events include:
* USS Constitution Gun Demonstrations at Constellation Pier in the Inner Harbor daily.
* Navy Admiral to toss the coin at the Ravens v. Giants game at 7:15 p.m., Sat. Aug. 28 at M&T Stadium.
* USS Monsoon and USS Whidbey Island arrive at the Inner Harbor. Ship tours available to the public beginning Sunday, Aug. 29.
* Navy Celebration of 100 Years of Boy Scouting with Scouts aboard the USNS Comfort at 8:30 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 29. The ship is docked at 4209 Newgate Ave., Canton Pier 11.
* Navy Seabees assist Civic Works with Community Cleanup Project all day, Tuesday, Aug. 31 at the 400 block of Duncan Street.
* Navy Fitness Challenge at the Baltimore City YMCA, E. 33rd St. at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 1.
* U.S. Naval Academy Electric Brigade Band performance and Music Clinic at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute at 11:25 a.m., Friday, Sept. 3.
* Navy First Pitch at Baltimore Orioles Game at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3 at Camden Yards.
