You might not beat the heat if you head to the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore this month, but on Tuesdays they will offer more than just one special treat.
On Tuesdays in August, zoo admission will be half price for tickets purchased at the gate and visitors will receive a coupon for a free frozen popsicle or ice cream treat, redeemable at any zoo concession stand that day.
“So many of the animals get icy treats during the summer, so we thought we could offer our guests something refreshing too,” said Don Hutchinson, president/CEO of The Maryland Zoo. “Of course, the polar bears get fish in their popsicles – our guests will have a more traditional treat.”
The zoo will also be highlighting some of its summer animal enrichment programs at special times each Tuesday, and keepers will be on hand to talk to visitors about how they keep animals cool in the summer.
The activities will include otter enrichment at 10:30 a.m., elephants at 11:30 a.m., chips at 2:15 p.m. and polar bears at 2:45 p.m.
Half price admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children. For details visit www.marylandzoo.org or call 410-366-LION.
