It’s time to get ready for the holidays and what better way than visiting a place where towns are made of gingerbread, elves outnumber people and the snow never melts. All you have to do is check out Kennedy Krieger Institute’s annual Festival of Trees Nov. 27-29 in the Cow Palace at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. There will be more than 500 ornately decorated trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses designed by local artists, not to mention live family entertainment (including the children’s band Milkshake), holiday shopping and a train garden. And don’t miss SantaLand, complete with craft stations, a carousel, a three-hole miniature golf course, a remote control race track and carnival games. The event will be held Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults; $5, children ages 5-12 and seniors; and free for children 4 and younger. 443-923-7300 or www.festivaloftrees.kennedykrieger.org.
