Gummy vitamin fix

Betsy Stein | 11/13/09

Our guest blogger today is calendar editor and freelancer Laura Cech.

Mommy confession time: I like gummy vitamins.

That’s right — when I dispense the chewy bits of nutrition to my 5-year-old, I’ve been known to pop a few, too.

On the plus side, it sets a good example for my son. But, of course I know that there’s a difference between the health needs of a 45-pound child and a won’t-say-how-many-pound mommy.

So, I was thrilled to see that adult vitamins now come in gummy candy form. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who was dipping into the kids’ supply. The makers knew there was a market somehow, right?

In addition to very tasty multi-vitamins, there are chewable, sugar-coated calcium supplements, which are a fantastic alternative to the huge pills I’ve never quite been able to swallow. Plus, they are far superior to the chalky chewable chocolates that never fooled anyone.

Now that my vitamins taste like candy, I’ve become very good about taking them.
