Looking for nearby, inexpensive ways to keep the kids occupied this summer?
REI, a national retailer of outdoor clothes and gear, has created a Web site that makes it easier than ever for families to head outside for a hiking or biking adventure.
With its new Passport to Adventure program, REI offers recommendations on family-friendly hiking and biking trails near cities across the United States, including Baltimore, and even includes downloadable guides complete with driving directions. Some highlighted adventure spots include hiking Deadman’s Cove at the Loch Raven Watershed and biking the Grist Mill Trail, part of Patapsco Valley State Park.
Kids can even document their adventures through the Adventure Journal, available at any REI location and online. The program will run all summer and into the fall, giving families ample time to enjoy the outdoors.
