An 1870's mansion currently serves as headquarters for the Clyburn Association, but the new building will add office space and an auditorium.

Soon there will be even more to enjoy at Cylburn Arboretum.

Construction is currently underway on an Orientation and Education Building at Cylburn, a 207-acre urban park in Baltimore. The building will feature a 250-seat auditorium, meeting space and offices for the Cylburn Arboretum Association, Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland and the Horticultural Society of Maryland.

Right now, the Cylburn Association is housed in a historic 1870′s mansion on the grounds. Visitors can also explore a carriage house, nature museum and public gardens, not to mention nearly four miles of scenic woodland trails.

“Cylburn Arboretum Association is absolutely thrilled to see construction started,” Executive Director Natalie Lopes said shortly after the groundbreaking. “This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is the result of hard work and superb cooperation between the city and private funders and will delight visitors for years to come. Cylburn will truly become an even greater asset for all of Baltimore and its surrounding regions.”

The park is open to the public and admission is free. For more information or a schedule of events, call 410-396-0180 or visit www.cylburnassociation.org.
